Miami

Miami has had a short history but with many waves of people to its shores.  From the Native Americans who lived here before the Spanish accidentally found the peninsula, to the few orange growers to convinced the railroads to come down here, to the waves of immigrants seeking a better life, Miami is a true melting pot of cultures.  And this pot is threatening to boil over as over five million people now live in the Miami-Dade county area, with no room to grow.  Miami bicycle shops will rightly tell you that with so many people packed into a sardine can, that it is an intelligent person who chooses to get around on the back of a bike.  Bikes can sneak in and out of traffic, contribute no pollution, and can help you keep your figure for the all-important beaches in this wild and rich American city.

Traffic can be difficult in Miami, and Miami bicycle shops can help you avoid the congestion.  If you are properly outfitted for the road, it is a wise choice.  If you commute to work, the mornings can be packed with cars and the evenings even worse as the tourists wake up and hit the streets.  Miami grew faster than the infrastructure can handle, and the many cars on the road are a testament to this growth.  You’ll arrive at work a bit earlier if you ride your bike, guaranteed. Since South Florida is so flat, you will not be too exhausted.  However, the heat and humidity are sometimes so thick that you think you could chew the air.  So just bring a small towel and a change of shirt.  You don’t want to be sitting at your desk with a big salt slick on the front your button down.

The Miami bicycle shops can also outfit you for the numerous bike trails that are available in Miami.  With great weather year round and mostly level grade, the biking is superbly suited for the long distance cyclist.
